Local government accountability mechanisms are, demarcated approaches to exacting accountability to ensure democratic control of public institutions, to prevent corruption and abuse of power and to improve public confidence in government.
I believe in accountability in our elected officials and in my commitment to the public of ensuring that all elected officials are always held accountable, should I serve as your elected councilmember. Accountability is a key component in rebuilding trust in government.
Prior to running for city council, I have been attending city council meetings and have spoken out on numerous issues to seek accountability, whether it be about unscrupulous attempts to sell off the city’s much needed assets, or the city being in violation of a few municipal codes, to which they should adhere.
If the citizens are required to abide by municipal codes, then the city has a responsibility to as well. No one is above the law. When a government or an elected official engages in this type of behavior it can be considered something so concerning, that it must be addressed.
I have been consistent and involved in the issues and aware of the decisions council has made and understand our city is in jeopardy.
Now is the time to elect those who will be responsible for helping to save this city and stopping continuous bad decisions made at the behest of current and past elected officials.
I must continue to speak out, not just as a candidate for city council, but as a private citizen and continue to speak out on issues that myself and others are concerned with. The public deserves transparency at its maximum and to be informed.
I have been engaged, speak out, and have been consistent in serving the public by speaking out on many things at council meetings. Whether it be the mayor being accused of voter intimidation by showing up at a recall signing event and engaging in conversation with people who were there to sign the recall on her, or the mayor being accused of retaliation for trying to get rid of a planning commissioner shortly after this event or the mayor dismissing residents when their time is up from their given 3 minutes, yet on occasion allowing a chosen few to speak longer. The rudeness to the people council serves is not acceptable. It is about serving your citizens and their needs and concerns.
During this campaign I will be highlighting many things, including examples of why I am your best choice for council, to help move the city forward while demanding accountability, transparency, and getting issues resolved with no false promises.
Please stand with me in helping rebuild our city to its once vibrant state. To once again have a council culture that shows more empathy for the needs of those we committed to serve, and to address and fix the issues the citizens have seen neglected. No more excuses just solutions and a path to resolution.
